TEAM PROFILE
They compete in UROC Atlantic Pro Super Modified Team
47 and WEROCK ProEast
Team 47.Alan and Ken have a combined 24 years of hardcore wheeling experience and a friendship that goes back ten years. Their shared passion has always been to conquer every obstacle on any trail, and over the years have built an uncanny level of teamwork and effortless communication that serves as their greatest asset in competition. Alan has proven to be able to keep a cool head under the intense pressure of the event, perhaps the greatest enemy of even the most skilled driver. Ken’s ability to analyze the course and the effect it will have on the rig while adjusting plans on the fly for the unexpected have made him an indispensable secret weapon.
Alan
has a degree in journalism and worked for CBS for 2 years before
moving to high
tech,
spending 10 years managing large support accounts for the worlds largest
software company. He knows how to work with people and deliver a message
professionally and effectively across any medium.
He began his career in professional rock crawling as the spotter in UROC East for Scott Schlapman in 2004. They finished the season with a strong performance at SuperCrawl in SLC Utah. Spotting is a great way to get into the sport. It requires the same level of commitment and effort, and gives back the same level of satisfaction. Alan learned a LOT from and with Scott. Some people believe that spotters make the best drivers (just ask any spotter . . . LOL). Alan says his experience as a spotter helps make the teamwork between Ken and him so seamless.
Ken has 8 years experience as a machinist and fabricator
and he is the embodiment of
the entrepreneurial spirit. He is a “been there done
that” guy who immediately gains respect and speaks with confidence and integrity
on all things related to this sport. His reputation is growing quickly as a
custom car builder in western North Carolina where he works his craft for
customers under the banner of "Ken's Kustoms" crafting artwork restorations and
extreme modifieds from vintage Early Bronco sheet metal. On the trails, Ken is
the guy that makes sure everyone else makes it through the toughest sections.
Each year, he organizes and executes the East Coast Early Bronco Fawl Crawl in
Tellico, NC, an organized run for members of the Mid-Atlantic Early Bronco club
and anyone else who wants to attend that sometimes reaches more than 75 trucks.
He keeps his act together on the trail and at home where he is raising 3 great
sons as a single dad. In competition, Ken's job is to keep Alan out of trouble.
His resume couldn't be better!
Both Alan and Ken are committed to doing whatever it takes to compete at the highest level in the sport and serve as professional, high profile ambassadors for their sponsors.
